Listening Method

Train your ears, not your memory

Replaying audio until you know the answer is not enough. Use each listening activity as a cycle of testing, checking and targeted repetition.

Listen once Treat the first attempt like an exam and concentrate on extracting the important information.

Answer first Commit to your answer before replaying the audio. This shows what you genuinely understood.

Check the transcript Identify the exact words, phrases or sections that caused the comprehension problem.

Listen again Replay the difficult section and train yourself to recognise the language you missed the first time.

Not sure where to start?

Use the full listening exam at the top of this page as a diagnostic before beginning your training.

Notice which audio types cause the most difficulty. Then train at the level you are preparing for. If the material feels consistently too difficult, use the level below to strengthen your listening foundation before returning to your target level.
