Level 1 Listening
Build your listening step by step. Start with short, controlled activities, then move into more demanding Level 1 listening practice.
Start with the Listening Labs
Sixty minutes of random listening is less useful than structured repetition. These two labs give you 30 short activities designed to build comprehension gradually before harder exam practice.
Listening Lab 1
Fifteen short listening activities designed to build confidence with basic spoken English without the pressure of a full exam task.
Listening Lab 2
Fifteen further Level 1 activities focused on identifying main ideas, important details and simple spoken information.
Ready for longer listening practice?
Once the shorter Listening Lab activities feel manageable, move into these four separate Level 1 training sets.
Level 1 Listening V1
Start with short, clearly delivered recordings using straightforward vocabulary and familiar subject areas.
Level 1 Listening V2
Continue with a new set of recordings and fresh comprehension questions at Level 1.
Level 1 Listening V3
Add more speaker and topic variety so your listening does not depend on one voice or one predictable situation.
Level 1 Listening V4
Test your Level 1 listening with a full exam simulation using separate recordings, one-listen playback and timed answers.
Do not just replay the audio
Listening improves when you identify what you missed, not when you simply repeat the same recording until the answer becomes obvious.
Build your Level 1 speaking and writing with a teacher
Listening is only one part of your preparation. If speaking or writing is holding you back, work directly with a teacher on the areas that are harder to practise alone.
