Transcript:Interviewer: Given the commercialisation of space, how do you define the new space race? Expert: It's fundamentally different from the Cold War model. This is not nations competing for prestige. It's a complex interplay of sovereign space programmes, commercial launch providers, satellite operators, and resource extraction ambitions. The Moon and near-Earth asteroids contain minerals worth trillions of dollars. The legal framework governing who can extract them barely exists. The companies that develop the technology first will have enormous leverage over the framework that eventually emerges.
